Unlike conventional film-forming deck stains, Ipe Oil penetrates the wood to provide protection against moisture and UV exposure without creating a thick surface coating that can peel or flake.

How to Apply DeckWise Ipe Oil

Step 1: Prepare the surface

Ensure the wood is clean, dry and free from dirt, previous coatings and contaminants. Previously weathered hardwood may require cleaning and brightening before application.

Allow the surface to dry thoroughly before applying the finish.

Step 2: Mix thoroughly

Stir Ipe Oil thoroughly before and during application to ensure even distribution of the finish.

Step 3: Apply the oil

Apply a thin, even coat following the direction of the wood grain. Maintain a wet edge to avoid uneven application.

Step 4: Remove excess oil

Allow the oil to penetrate according to the manufacturer’s instructions, then thoroughly wipe away any excess that has not absorbed into the wood.

Excess oil left on the surface can cause tackiness and uneven sheen.

Step 5: Allow to dry

Allow approximately 24 hours under suitable drying conditions before returning the surface to normal use.

Important: Oil-soaked rags and application materials can spontaneously combust. Follow the manufacturer’s handling and disposal instructions.

Maintaining Your Hardwood Deck

Regular cleaning and periodic reapplication of Ipe Oil can help preserve the appearance of exterior hardwood decking.

Maintenance frequency depends on sunlight exposure, weather conditions and foot traffic.

For best results, inspect your hardwood deck annually and reapply when necessary.
